WallScreen
The wallstream software is used to stream X11 applications from a local display to a SAGE display wall. Download version 0.1 [5KB] to see initial progress. After compiling, run the resulting wallstream executable and then select an X11 window running some arbitrary application; that window will now appear on the SAGE display wall. Full details here.
iCluster
iCluster is research project software to visualize, cluster and compare large sub-cellular localization image sets. For each member of an image set, iCluster generates statistics to distinguish sub-cellular localization and then maps and visualizes the image sets in both 2D and 3D based on those statistics. It is programmed in the Java-based language, Processing. A number of steps were required to render iCluster on the SAGE display wall. Firstly the Java Native Interface (JNI) was used to create a Java interface to the C++ SAGE libraries. Then the rendering classes of Processing had to be modified to utilize the Java interface so that the SAGE display wall is updated when Processing renders new frames. Finally the iCluster software was adjusted to use the modified Processing code.
Porting 3rd Party Applications
Masters student Jean Francillard produced a report into adapting third party applications into the OptIPortal environments SAGE and (mainly) CGLX. See the Overview here.
OptIPortal in other Environments
Many OptIPortal installations use the Rocks cluster environment. Other environments are also possible and details for building SAGE in some of these alternate environments are listed here:
- Building SAGE on Debian 5 (Lenny)
- Building SAGE on Slackware (inc.
Slackware64)
- Building SAGE on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope)
- Building SAGE on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
