Installing SAGE and CGLX on a Slackware 12.1 Graphics Cluster

Introduction
This page contains instructions on how to install SAGE and CGLX onto a graphics cluster using Slackware 12.1 GNU/Linux operating system.

Method

1. Install Slackware 12.1
  - its easier to use the DVD version
  - do a full install i.e. all packages (actually, I usually omit the kdei and games package sets)
  - reboot

2. Install GSB gnome
  - reboot
  - add UQVislab package repository to list of software sources
edit the file /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc by adding the line:
        SOURCE=http://www.vislab.uq.edu.au/slackware/12.1/
  - install some prerequisite packages

3. Configure frontend system

4. Configure tile systems

5. Install SAGE

SAGE is installed into the user's home directory. Since the same home directory is used on the frontend and all tile machines, SAGE only needs to be installed once - on the frontend machine/

unpack sage
patch to enable audio and add svc, bitplay
download snippet for .bashrc file
build it

6. Install CGLX
