How to search the collections

Access Privileges

There are several levels of access privileges to access the different collections.
By default all newly registered users have the lowest level of access privileges: you can browse through the files and download most of the files. You cannot upload files.

If you are a researcher or a curator and you want to contribute to the collections by depositing data, you will need to register.

Some data stored in the different collections may also be protected for cultural reasons and you will not be able to access these files.

How to search the collections

Depending on how familiar you are with the collections, you can search in three different ways:
  • eArchaeology Collection Manager: this looks like a file and directory browsers. Use this if you are familiar with the file names and the files structures.

  • text search: enter a keyword and the system will return any files that match your keyword. Use this if you are a new user and are not familiar with the collections

    for instance: type "stone"

  • advanced search: this will take you to a new window and you can use simple boolean command by pointing and clicking to create a search pattern. This is more powerful than the text search. Use this for targeted searches.
