Making a search

Let's suppose we want to find any glass items found in the Gooreng Gooreng Archaeological project.

First we will create the first logical statement: keywords = glass.

1. Click on keywords so that it is highlighted: possible values will be displayed in the value column.
2. Click on glass so that it is highlighted then
3. Click on the sign =.
keyword = glass
"keywords = glass" will be displayed in the SRB Metadata Search String.

4. Click on the Add to Search button to confirm.
keywords = glass
"keywords = glass" will be displayed in the second entry box as the first part of the search.

We now need to search the Gooreng Gooreng Archaeological project collection. The secons logical statement is project = gooreng gooreng.

5. Click on project so that it is highlighted: possible values will be displayed in the value column.
6. Click on gooreng gooreng so that it is highlighted then
7. Click on the sign =.
project = gooreng gooreng
"project = Gooreng Gooreng cultural heritage project" will be displayed in the SRB Metadata Search String.

8. Click on the Add to Search button to confirm.
project = gooreng gooreng
"keywords = glass" "project = Gooreng Gooreng cultural heritage project" will be displayed in the second entry box as the first part of the search.

9. Click on the Go Search Meta-Data to search the collection. The query will return:

glass + gooreng gooreng

Let's suppose we are interested in the third item in the list: the sketch of a broken bottle.

10. Click either on the image or Figure 9-23.jpg to get some information about this item.

glass + gooreng gooreng

 If authorised, you can then view or download the image.
