Cursor-Applet 0.3

Cursor Applet lets you change the size of the mouse cursor from the GNOME Panel. It aims to simplify working with the mouse under systems with large and/or high-resolution displays.

You can switch between 'small' and 'large' cursor by double clicking on the applet icon. The preferences dialog can be used to set up the directories that contain the Xcursor files to use. Two default cursor collections are included (both in two sizes): simplewhite and simpleblack.

Installation Instructions and Notes

The following libraries must be present in your system:

• GNOME 2 libraries
• GNOME Panel libraries
• X with Xcursor library
• DMX extension (only if building dmxcursor, see below)

You can install the packages with the usual 'configure && make && make install' sequence. The following additional options are available for the configure script:
    --enable-xcursorsize=yes/no
(default: yes) - If set to yes the program xcursorsize will be installed and can be used to switch the cursor size to small or large from the command line
    --enable-dmxcursor=yes/no
(default: no) - If set to yes the program dmxcursor will be installed which is capable of changing the mouse cursor size automatically depending on the DMX screen the cursor is currently located in
For more information and options read the README file or start the appropriate program with the -help option.

Known Issues

  1. There is a known bug in the DMX extension that only allows monochrome cursors
  2. If your cursor looks pixelated and/or icons are disappearing try the -norender option when starting DMX. More info here
