 AG2.4 for Debian "sarge"

Overview
The AG2.4 packages available here are for testing purposes in sites where AG2 is still required. They are made on and for the current Debian sarge. They should run with AG3 also installed, but since these packages are a first cut, we'd appreciate receiving any feedback from users that may help us fix any problems.

Installation
First remove any earlier AG2 installations e.g. accessgrid2.3 and its dependencies:
accessgrid2.3
globusdatamanaggcc32gcc32dbgpthr3.0.2
libwxgtk2.4
libwxgtk2.4-python

Automatic method (using Synaptic or apt-get):
First, some packages from backports.org are required; then some packages from this site. Please add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
    deb http://www.backports.org/debian sarge-backports main contrib non-free
    deb http://www.vislab.uq.edu.au/debian sarge/

Next, open the Synaptic Package Manager and reload the package information (use the Reload button, or select Reload Package Information from the Edit menu). Now search for and install the accessgrid2.4 package. A number of prerequisite packages should also be automatically installed (for a full list, see below in the Manual installation section).

An alternative to Synaptic is apt-get from the command line. In this case, after editing the source.list file, run:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install accessgrid2.4

Manual method:
Download and install the following packages (and whatever dependencies they entail):
from any regular Debian sarge repository -
vncserver
xvncviewer
xterm
twm

from backports.org -
python-wxgtk2.6

wxmozilla
globusaccessgrid
accessgrid2.4

Should be set to go now - look in the new "Access Grid" entry in the main menu (assuming Gnome desktop).

Download

Issues
  • SharedPresentation - not loading (can't find uno module)
Apart from the above, there are no known issues i.e. it works for me! Please advise of any difficulties so they can be addressed and hopefully fixed.
