 Debian and Ubuntu AccessGrid Packages
Access Grid 3 Packages for Debian and Ubuntu

The AG3 packages available here have been tested locally and appear to work fine. Please advise of any other quirks or difficulties to the contact email address below.

AG 3.2

AG3.2 is officially still classified as beta. However it is quite stable and is the preferred (and only) version for current Debian and Ubuntu releases (lenny & karmic).  Packages of the 3.2 version of the AG toolkit are available for Ubuntu Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty & Karmic as well as Debian Etch & Lenny.

To install AG3.2, see:

Also,

AG 3.1
(21st December 2007)

Although AG Toolkit version 3.1 is the official release version, we recommend AG3.2. To encourage uptake of version 3.2, packages of the AG3.1 releases are  only available
for older Debian/Ubuntu releases i.e. Debian Etch and Lenny as well as Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty), 7.10 (Gutsy) and 8.04 (Hardy).

No AG3.1 or 3.2 packages are planned for Debian Sarge or Ubuntu 6.10 for which the most recent release available is AG3.0.2. Please upgrade your Debian or Ubuntu to a newer version to take advantage of the AG3.1 release or, better still, the AG3.2 beta.

To install AG3.1, see:

Recommended AG related applications

The following Access Grid related applications and services are available here for various Debian and Ubuntu systems:

And from the Archive ...

AG2 users should really upgrade to AG3! However, for completeness ...

These AG2.4 packages can be installed alongside the AG3 packages above.

Also, the Debian packages for the older AG2.3 version of the AccessGrid software are still available on the Sydney ViSLAB web site. They were developed by Joseph Pachod and since then maintained by Steve Smith.

Please note that the AG2.3 package is not recommended for new installations since it is not compatible with any known AG3 packages for Debian

Installation Instructions and Notes for the AG2.3 release:
Depending on how your AG toolkit is installed, you may need to be root user to perform the installation.
    • unpack the download bundle with the shell command:
      su -c "echo -e '\n#AccessGrid debian packages\ndeb http://people.vislab.usyd.edu.au/~ssmith/debian/ binary/' >> /etc/apt/sources.list"
      su -c "apt-get update"
      su -c "apt-get install accessgrid2.3"
