The Queensland Minister of Innovation and
Information Economy, the Honourable Paul Lucas launched the Access
Grid node on April 29, 2002
at James Cook
University via a shared session with Vislab-ATP, Sydney.

JCU also pioneered the use of the AG in teaching: it is extensively used between the two campuses in Townsville and Cairns.
