VisLab 6th Birthday Thursday 3 December
On the 3rd of December 1998, the VisLab at Physics in Sydney University turns six years young! Happy Birthday!
New Director November
Founding director, Prof. Bernard Pailthorpe announces that he will be taking the position of associate director for visualisation at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. Prof. Lawrence Cram will become the director of VisLab in January 1999.
HPC Asia 22-25 September
Dr W. Wang presents a paper on High resolution weather visualisation at HPC Asia conference in Singapore.

Fourth australian molecular modelling workshop will take place at VisLab
Sid Karin Friday 6 July
Sid Karin, the director of the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) visits VisLab.
VRML Workshop 18-19 June
14 participants from industry and government agencies attended the VRML workshop tutored by Dave Nadeau from the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC).
Java3D Workshop Tuesday 16 June
A special introduction to Java3D programming by Dave Nadeau attended by the VisLab staff and Macquarie Bank.
High School Hands On Tour Friday 22 May
Year 10 students from Carlingford High School visited VisLab for a basic web programming workshop. Check their work here

Onyx2 installed in Sydney VisLab at the Australian Technology Park
New Equipment at Sydney VisLab Tuesday 31 March
Sydney VisLab purchased an SGI Onyx2.
Dr David Kemp at Sydney VisLab Friday 20 March
Dr David Kemp, Minister for Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs launched "The Light Guide", an educational interactive web site for senior secondary school students.
"The Light Guide" was written and designed by Nicole Bordes. This project was done in collaboration with Sydney VisLab and the Australian Photonics CRC.
